While it is fairly expected for a class to forget a few procedures and expectations while in a substitute’s care, my newlywed CT took the opportunity Monday morning to revisit the classroom norms with the students and address some issues that had come up in her absence. I was glad I got the chance to see this since procedures had already been established when I first started the residency.
As an attempt to add variety and to resolve some conflict between students, My CT and I spent Tuesday afternoon creating a new seating arrangement. Who knew it was such a tricky task?! There are dozens of things to consider, and I was thankful for one of the first activities in our Classroom Management course that served as practice. Now that I’ve gotten to know the students better on an academic and social level, I felt that I was able to contribute some valuable insight to the process.
Now that things are starting to settle back into a groove, one particular student still has me wracking my brain in my spare time trying to figure out. Although many standard behavior management measures have been taken, nothing has seemed to resonate with him. Although I was able to discuss him briefly in class with my Child Development professor, I intend to get some more specific advice in the weeks to come. In the meantime will support my CT with how she chooses to address the matter.
On a more exciting note, I went to my first post-admittance meeting for the Cambridge School Experience I will be taking part in Summer 2014 and I am just overjoyed that I have been given this opportunity. More news on that to come!
